Sour Paint Studios

Arizona disc golf?

Sour Paint Studios ยท v1.7

How to use it

Find a course

List shows every Arizona course as a card: holes, par, terrain, level and fee.

Map shows the same courses as pins. Tap a pin to open that course.

Pick a city from the City menu, or use the filter chips for level, free, night lights and saved courses.

Tap the heart on a card to save a course. Turn on the Saved chip to see only your hearts.

Courses near you

Open Nearby and tap Use my location. The list sorts by distance and shows the sky at the closest course.

Your location stays on your phone. It is only used to sort the list.

Course page

Tap any card to open its page: amenities, live weather and a play-now note for Arizona heat, wind and monsoon.

Directions opens your maps app. UDisc and PDGA open hole maps and scores on those sites.

Hyzer Kid, your caddy

Open the Hyzer Kid tab. Tap a topic chip (Wind, Desert, Heat, Putting...) for a saved tip. These work with no signal.

Photograph a basket: tap Open camera or photos, then snap or choose a picture of the basket you are throwing at. He checks it is a basket, estimates the distance, and suggests a shot.

The distance is approximate, based on a standard 26-inch basket. It is not a rangefinder. For best results, keep the whole basket in frame and stand square to it.

Ask him: type a question and tap Ask Hyzer Kid for a quick answer.

Live answers and photo scans are limited per visit. Saved tips always work.

The intro

A short intro plays the first time you open the app each visit. There are two, and one is picked at random. Tap Skip to jump in, or Sound off to turn the sound on.

To watch it again, open About and tap Watch the intro.

Put it on your home screen

iPhone: open the app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Android: open it in Chrome, tap the menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.

It gets the SPS Disc Golf alien icon and opens full screen like an app.

The full Sour Paint banner at the top of the course list is the title card. It hides on the Map and Nearby tabs to leave room.

Classical music

Tap the round music button above the tab bar, then Play. Classical tracks from the Meridian app play at random and keep going while you move around the app.

Next skips to another track. Pause stops it. Close just hides the panel, the music keeps playing.

It never starts by itself. It pauses when a tip clip or intro plays with sound. It needs a data or Wi-Fi signal, since the tracks stream from Meridian.

Tip bucket

The TIPS bucket in the top-right corner is the same bucket as the AZ Open Mics app.

Tap it and one of seven short clips pops up at random to point you to the tip buttons. Tap the clip to replay it.

Pick $3, $5 or $10 and Square opens so you can type the amount. Tips go to Sour Paint Studios, not to the course.
